Londonderry Family Safety Day: a hit once again!

Although the location of this ever-growing and popular event was relocated to Matthew Thornton School this year, Moose Hill PTA still proudly sponsors the event.  The ever-talented bakers of Moose Hill students rose to the occasion and we were inundated with a variety of baked goods from which to choose during Saturday’s event.  The results earned the PTA $154 and the delicious items leftover went to the Londonderry Fire and Police Departments, a local food pantry, volunteers at the event, and our own Moose Hill staff.

The enthusiasm of a great group of volunteers who baked and/or brought the items was deliciously heartwarming, and Moose Hill is clearly on to a great year!

Welcome Moose Hill Students and Staff

We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean.  But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.” ~ Mother Teresa

To the new staff and parents of students at Moose Hill — welcome!  To the returning parents, teachers and staff of Moose Hill — welcome back!  It’s time to make some great memories for the 2008-09 school year.

The Moose Hill PTA is excited to embark on its eighth year at Moose Hill School.  We have come a long way and have seen a lot of changes since we joined as an organization, but one thing has always remained constant:  Volunteers have been plenty and are always eager to help where they can within the school and for the PTA, which has always been a great way to promote the best interests of our children in what they learn.  Did you know that without our PTA, we couldn’t have many of the extra-curricular events in which the students enjoy participating?  We oversee a fall fundraiser, a spring book fair, and outreach to the three elementary schools on three separate occasions throughout the year that are always fun family times.  We provide meals for the staff during parent/teacher conferences, and much more! Just as these activities support and promote our children’s education, they support our staff at the school.

We have over twenty positions open for parents to chair or co-chair and oversee their events, from editing the monthly newsletter to collecting Box Tops and sending them in, to overseeing the spring book fair.  Whether it is a position requiring a little or a lot of your time, it is fundamental in our overall success.  Every drop in the ocean counts.  I hope you will become a PTA member and join in our efforts to continue to succeed and show your support.

The PTA meets on the third Thursday of each month from September through May (excluding December).  Our first meeting will be held on September 18, 2008 at 7:00 PM.  Come and meet the current PTA officers and see what we do.  We will vote in a new Executive Board and assign individuals to the many committees.

There is a PTA membership form, a volunteer log sheet, and list of the various committees in the September Moose Mutterings newsletter en route to you via backpack express.  We welcome you to join us at our first meeting, meet other parents of your child’s classmates, and share your ideas and suggestions.  This is your PTA, and you count!  Show your support and may our ocean grow even bigger.

Sincerely,

 Kerri L. Stanley

Old Home Days: Kidz Night on the Common

The 7th annual Kidz Night Celebration was a huge success and even the rain stayed away.  Moose Hill PTA hosts one of the many activities and games in which the kids can participate.  The Ring Toss is always a fun challenge and not so easy to do!  All participants of varying age range were rewarded with a tattoo.

Some Moose Hill kindergartners tried their luck and they are some of the participants in these photos.

Moose Hill PTA goes green!

Welcome to the Moose Hill PTA Weblog!  Besides the “Moose Mutterings” newsletter your child brings home each month to keep you up to date on all of the latest activities and events taking place at Moose Hill School, you can now enjoy the convenience of getting additional information here, as well as photos from past events that otherwise couldn’t get published in the newsletter.

As the 2007-08 school year is coming quickly to an end, there will be little activity here.  But keep checking back for new updates and other related events taking place in town.

Until next time ~
